Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how José Wilson Wariss Macedo Sá (“Graceward,” “we,” “us”), an individual based in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, handles information when you use the Graceward app for iPhone and the website getgraceward.app (together, the “Service”). We are the controller of your personal data under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

In short

  • You don't need an account to use Graceward.
  • Your prayer journal stays on your device. We can't read it.
  • We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
  • Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
  • We use a random identifier, not your name or email, to understand how the app is used.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us in the app

Onboarding answers. What brings you to Graceward, how life is right now (for example, a season of loss or uncertainty), how much time you have each day, your reminder time and your preferred Bible translation. You may also choose to share your faith tradition. We use these to personalize your devotional plan.

Prayer journal. Prayers you write and whether you mark them as answered. The text of your prayers never leaves your device.

Your profile and journal are stored locally on your device. Some of your onboarding answers are also included in the usage information described below. Your faith tradition and the text of your prayers are not sent to our servers.

Information collected automatically

Usage information. Which screens are opened, whether a devotional was completed, your onboarding answers (other than tradition), app settings such as text size and appearance, whether notifications are allowed, app version, device model, iOS version and language. It is linked to a random identifier generated by the app and stored in your iPhone's Keychain, which can survive a reinstall. It is not linked to your name, email address, Apple ID or advertising identifier.

Approximate location. Our analytics provider derives your approximate location (country and city) from your IP address when the app sends usage information, so we can understand where Graceward is used. We don't collect your precise location.

We do not use a crash reporting service.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We and our subscription provider receive a transaction record (subscription type, status, dates and the random identifier) so we can unlock your subscription. We never receive your name, Apple ID email or payment details.

Contacting support

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notifications and do not collect a push token. You can turn reminders off anytime in the app or in iOS Settings.

The website

getgraceward.app is a static site. We do not use cookies or analytics on it, and it loads no third-party fonts or scripts. Our host, Vercel, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and keep it secure.

2. How we use information

  • To provide and personalize your daily devotional plan.
  • To manage your free trial and subscription.
  • To send the reminders you ask for.
  • To understand how the app is used, fix bugs and improve the Service.
  • To answer your questions and support requests.
  • To comply with the law and protect the rights and safety of our users.

Under the LGPD, and under GDPR and UK GDPR where they apply, we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the Service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations.

3. Faith-related information

Your prayers, your faith tradition and some of your onboarding answers may reveal religious beliefs or personal circumstances, which some laws treat as sensitive information. Sharing your tradition is always optional. It stays on your device and is used only to personalize your experience. The text of your prayers also stays on your device.

Your other onboarding answers (what brings you to Graceward and your life season) are sent to our analytics provider linked to the random identifier described above, so we can improve the app. They are never used for advertising and are never shared for any other purpose.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share limited information only with:

  • Apple, which processes App Store purchases under its privacy policy.
  • Superwall, which shows our paywalls and helps handle purchases, under its privacy policy.
  • PostHog, our product analytics provider, which stores data on its US cloud, under its privacy policy.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect the safety of any person.
  • A successor, if Graceward is transferred as part of a sale of the business, subject to this policy.

Our providers may use the information only to provide services to us.

Sharing verse images

Graceward can create an image of a verse. Only the image is handed over, and we don't receive a copy. For Instagram and Facebook Stories, the app places the image on the iOS pasteboard for a few minutes and opens the destination app, using our Meta app identifier to show that the image comes from Graceward. For Messages, the image is added to the message composer. Other apps receive it through the iOS share sheet. What the destination app does with the image is governed by its own privacy policy. We don't include any Meta SDK in the app.

5. Retention and deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it. Deleting the app erases it. Usage information held by our providers is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. To have your analytics data deleted, email us at the address below. Because it is linked only to a random identifier, not to your name, email or Apple ID, tell us roughly when you installed the app and your iPhone model so we can try to find it; if we can't match it to you, it stays tied only to that random identifier. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you and then deleted.

6. Your rights and choices

Under the LGPD you may ask us to confirm that we process your data, give you access to it, correct it, anonymize, block or delete it, port it, inform you about who we share it with, and revoke your consent. Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and US states such as California, you may have similar rights, including to object to or restrict certain processing and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Because most of your data never leaves your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly in the app.

To make a request, email privacy@getgraceward.app. You may also lodge a complaint with the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD) or your local authority.

7. Children

Graceward is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security and international transfers

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit. No method is perfectly secure. We are based in Brazil, and our providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
